3-year-old hospitalized in KC after 3 killed in head-on crash

TEXAS COUNTY, Missouri —Two adults and a child died in an accident just before 1:30p.m. Tuesday in Texas County, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported 2000 Lincoln passenger car driven by Tommy L. Federico, 23, Roby, was southbound on MO 17 ten miles north of Houston, Missouri.

The car traveled off the right side of the road, returned to the road, began to skid sideways, crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2022 Ford pickup driven by John W. Raney, 26, Houston, Missouri, head-on.

Federico and passengers in the Lincoln Helen L. Drury, 26, and a 5-year-old girl both of Roby were pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Evans Funeral Home. Children's Mercy Critical Care transport aircraft transported a 3-year-old girl in the car to Children's Mercy in Kansas City. Mercy Lifeline transported a 1-year-0ld boy in the car to University Hospital in Columbia.

Raney was not injured. The two adults in the car were not wearing seat belts, according to the MSHP.
