Sheriff: Suspect caught hiding in trees after Kansas chase, crash

BROWN COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on multiple allegations after a chase and crash.

Just after 1:30a.m. Aug. 31,  sheriff's deputies responded to a vehicle chase in progress that initiated in the city of Horton, according to Sheriff John Merchant.

. The suspect vehicle left Horton northbound on U.S. 73 Highway at a high rate of speed.  A Brown County deputy made contact with the vehicle near US 73 and 210.  The vehicle made it's way into Hiawatha and the driver lost control near Farm and Home where Horton and Hiawatha Police as well as Brown County sheriff's deputies located the suspect later identified as 24-year-old Montez Rodriguez of Independence, Missouri who  ran into a tree line.  He was ultimately arrested on Horton police department charges and is not longer in custody.
