The Ellis County Health Department on Friday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days fell from 17 on Wednesday to 12 on Friday.
The department also announced an additional coronavirus-related death, bringing the total to 31.
There were 132 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Wednesday. There are currently 295 active cases, including 11 active hospitalizations of Ellis County residents, and 2,740 recovered cases.
As of Friday, there were 25 COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, down from 27 on Thursday, with 21 of those active patients and four in the recovery phase.
The seven-day average of percent of positive tests fell to 13.5 percent.
Since reporting began, there have been 3,066 total cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 31 coronavirus-related deaths.
Of the total 15,962 tests administered, 18 percent have returned positive for COVID-19.
