MANHATTAN - Shortly after 8:30 pm Wednesday evening, Riley County Police Department was called to a residence in the 1300 block of Flint Hills Place.
A resident reported she had found a toilet paper roll with a fuse sticking out of it on her back porch several days ago, and brought it inside.
The resident did not contact RCPD until Wednesday evening regarding the item, and the Bomb Team was activated to investigate the possible homemade explosive device.
The Bomb Team cleared the scene with no threat to residents in the area.
The incident remains under investigation and a report of criminal use of explosives has been filed.
RCPD says it appears that the apparatus was made intentionally.
According to RCPD, there is no reason to believe there is any threat to the public with this incident.
