SHAWNEE COUNTY—A Kansas man is in custody for a violent encounter with tree service workers.
Just after 9a.m. on Wednesday, Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in the 3600 block of NW Stinson Road after tree-service workers reported that a resident confronted them and discharged a firearm in their direction, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.
Deputies contacted the workers and later located the suspect, Ryan A. Wistuba, 31, of Topeka, as he was returning to the residence.
Wistuba was taken into custody following the investigation and transported for medical clearance before being booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of aggravated assault, interference with law enforcement and transporting an open container of liquor. Detectives obtained and served a search warrant at the residence, and continue to investigate.
