WICHITA, Kan. — Stephen R. Langa was sentenced Friday in Sedgwick County District Court for a series of robberies that targeted the community over a five-day period in late 2024.

District Judge Sean Hatfield sentenced Langa to 198 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections, followed by 24 months of post-release supervision.

The sentencing follows a conviction on seven counts of robbery, each classified as a severity level 5 person felony. The charges stemmed from incidents occurring between Sept. 24, 2024, and Sept. 28, 2024. During this window, the defendant engaged in a series of robberies that prompted an intensive investigation by the Wichita Police Department.

Prosecutors argued that the frequency and nature of the crimes warranted a significant prison term to ensure public safety and provide justice for the victims involved.
