Kan. felon found with an AK-47 pistol formally charged

SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas felon, prohibited from having a weapon, made a court appearance last week after police found numerous weapons at his residence. 

Alejandro Morales, 19 of Wichita, is charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

On February 16, the Wichita Police Violent Crimes Community Response Team Officers spotted Morales leaving in a vehicle from a home in the 1700 block of S. Elizabeth in Wichita, according to Officer Trevor Macy.

A traffic stop was conducted, and Morales was taken into custody.

Upon serving the warrant on the residence on Elizabeth Street, officers located four handguns, including an AK-47 pistol. Police transported him to the Sedgwick County Jail and booked him. 

His next court date is March 7, according to the district attorney's office.
