LEAVENWORTH COUNTY—Three people were injured in an accident just after 9:30p.m. Saturday in Leavenworth County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported law enforcement were in pursuit of a 2008 Honda Accord driven by Johmelo M. Mapp-Jenkins, 22, Leavenworth near the intersection of N 147th Street and Parallel Road in Basehor.
The driver failed to yield at a stop sign at 147th Road and Parallel Road and struck a dirt embankment on the south edge of the roadway.
EMS transported Mapp-Jenkins and passengers Melissa K. Howard, 27, and Andrew M. Jones, 42, both of Leavenworth, to KU Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. All three were properly restrained, according to the KHP. The Patrol did not report what prompted the chase or possible charges.
