DOUGLAS COUNTY —On. person died in an accident just before 10:30a.m. Sunday in Douglas County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2015 Indian Chieftan motorcycle driven by Christopher Robert Stergos, 48, Tonganoxie, was southbound on U.S. 59 at the Baldwin U.S. 56 junction.
The rear tire of motorcycle blew out. The motorcycle slid and eject both occupants. A passenger identified as Margaret Kathleen Coleman, 48, Tonganoxie, was pronounced dead at the scene.
EMS transported Stergos to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. They were not wearing helmets, according to the KHP.
