KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City have a suspect in custody.
Just after 5:30a.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to the intersection of E 17th and Cambridge in Kansas City on a reported EMS call, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
Officers arrived on scene prior to EMS and located a victim later identified as 18-year-old Christopher Avila lying on the sidewalk. He was unresponsive and suffering from unknown bodily trauma. EMS responded shortly after and pronounced Avila deceased.
Officers on scene asked for assistance from homicide detectives due to the death appearing suspicious in nature. Detectives were sent to the scene to investigate further and it was determined this incident would be investigated as a homicide. On Thursday afternoon, police took a juvenile suspect into custody for questioning.
