Homicide: 78-year-old KC man dies after argument led to fall

KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating another homicide in Kansas City.

Just after 9:30a.m. September 1, police were dispatched to an assault in the 4100 block of North Brighton Avenue in Kansas City, according to Sheriff Daryl Forte'. 

First responders found 78-year-old Harold Alderson lying on the concrete with apparent head trauma.

A witness at the scene told officers that an adult male suspect had been in a verbal argument with Alderson that turned physical. During the argument, the 78-year-old fell and hit his head.

EMS transported Alderson to a nearby hospital in critical condition.  Just before 4 p.m., homicide detectives were notified that he had died from his injuries. Police are currently working to identify a person of interest identified by witnesses at the scene.
