
KANSAS CITY —Three Kansas City-area men are charged for last week's fleeing from police at high speeds as shots were fired from their vehicle at Independence police, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.
Kammron C. Tucker, 27, faces Unlawful Use of a Weapon, two counts of Assault 2nd Degree and three Armed Criminal Action, while James L. Gant, 25, faces Unlawful Use of a Weapon and three counts of Armed Criminal Action, and Zabdiel B. Caballero-Ochoa, 23, faces Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Resisting Arrest.
According to court records, Kansas City Police responded to the area of Interstates 70 and 435 to assist Independence Police officers in pursuit of a vehicle that had individuals inside who had fired shots at the officers. During the chase, the suspect vehicle hit 100 mph.
Police took into custody three suspects who fled from police on foot; a fourth suspect, who had been driving the vehicle, was taken into custody at the vehicle. Detectives reviewed surveillance video that showed a portion of the chase and showed gunfire from the suspect vehicle directed at the officers. A fourth suspect taken into custody was a juvenile.
