Pet treated for smoke inhalation at Kan. house fire

MANHATTAN —Authorities are working to determine the cause of fire at a home in Manhattan.

Just before 11a.m Saturday., the Manhattan Fire Department was dispatched to 2411 Brook Lane in Manhattan for a report of a structure fire, according to assistant Chief Mike Kaus.

Upon arrival, crews found a one story home with fire showing from the garage. Crews conducted a search and removed two pets from the home.  All other occupants exited the home prior to fire department arrival.

The fire reached a first alarm before it was contained within 10 minutes. One pet was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.  No other injuries were reported

 Loss is estimated at $25,000 to contents and $60,000 to the structure, according to Kaus.
