LINN COUNTY —Two people died in an accident just before 5p.m. Saturday in Linn County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2011 Ford Edge driven by Dennis N. Mayes, 62, Mapleton, was westbound on 200th Road just west of Jackson Road eight miles south of Mound City. A 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Clinton C. Barker, 21, Centerville, was eastbound.
Both vehicles crossed the center line and collided head-on.
After impact, the Ford spun into the west ditch. The pickup entered the eastbound ditch and rolled onto its top.
Mayes and a passenger in the Ford Elizabeth A. Mayes, 59, Fort Scott, were pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported Barker to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. A three were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
