SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident in Topeka have identified the boy who died as 14-year-old Joshua Solis-Maldonado of Topeka.
Just after 10:30p.m. Wednesday, police and emergency services were dispatched to an injury accident of a vehicle versus a pedestrian in the 2200 block of SE 37th Street, near Lake Shawnee, in Topeka, according to Topeka Police Lt. Kerry Connell. Solis-Maldonado was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police released photos of a suspect Jeep Compass that was seen in the area of the crash and that may have sustained damage to the front area of the vehicle, to possibly include the windshield.
On Friday, police reported the arrest of Noah Metz, 27, of Topeka. He was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Failure to stop at an accident resulting in death, Felony Interference with LEO; obstruct/resist/oppose felony warrant service or execution.
Police thanked the public for help with the investgation.
