JOHNSON COUNTY —Earlier this week around 3 a.m., officers responded to a report of a prowler at a construction site near K-10 and K-7 highways, according to a soial media report from Lenexa Police. Officers quickly surrounded the area and deployed a drone to search from above.
The drone operator soon spotted someone hiding under heavy construction equipment. With a coordinated plan in place, a team of officers, along with a K9, moved in and took the suspect safely into custody.
Further investigation revealed stolen tools from a Lenexa business, along with meth and drug paraphernalia. This same individual had been arrested by Lenexa officers earlier this year in connection with another business burglary. The Johnson County District Attorney's Office has charged this suspect with crimes related to both cases.
Police did not release the name of the suspect.
