SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas teen died from injuries in an accident that occurred just after 2:30 p.m. Monday in Sedgwick County.
According to Sheriff's Lt. Benjamin Blick, a Kenworth semi driven by a 38-year-old woman was eastbound on MacArthur at 135th Street west and struck a southbound Chevy Cruze driven by a 43-year-old man.
EMS transported the driver of the Chevy and a 17-year-old female passenger for treatment. The teen suffered critical injuries and died Tuesday morning, according to Blick. The semi driver was not injured.
Investigators determined the driver of the Chevy Cruze failed to stop at the posted stop sign for southbound traffic at the intersection or failed to yield to the crossing Kenworth. The circumstances of the collision remain under investigation. The sheriff's department has not released names of those involved.
