14-year-old Kansas girl killed when SUV strikes bridge pillar

SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas girl died in an accident just after 6:30p.m. Saturday in Sedgwick County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2012 Chevy Equinox driven by Randon Marqua Amaya-Lopez, 16, Wichita, was northbound on Interstate 135 at Kellogg. The SUV left the roadway to the right and struck a bridge pillar.

EMS transported a passenger in the vehicle identified as  Belayna Garlen  Amaya, 14, Wichita, to Wesley Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased. Amaya-Lopez also had serious injuries. The KHP did not report where or if he was transported for treatment. The teens were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
