JOHNSON COUNTY —Just before 9a.m. Thursday, police responded to Shawnee Mission South High School, 5800 W 107th Street in Overland Park regarding a suspicious man on the property, according to Officer John Lacy.
He was described as a white male in his late twenties, with a beard, wearing a tan baseball cap and tan pants. The man was seen on the north side of the school near a wooded area. School officials took the appropriate action by conducting a lockdown, bringing all students and staff inside the building. Despite a search by K-9 officers, patrol officers and drone operators, police did not find the person.
The lockdown lasted for sixty minutes. Parents of students who attend Shawnee Mission South were contacted by district office about the incident.
