KANSAS CITY—This week the Kansas City Kansas Police Narcotics Unit served a warrant on a home and seized approximately 6,000 counterfeit prescription pills laced with the deadly drug fentanyl, firearms and other drugs, according to a media release.
Police encouraged the public to take a close look at the pills. They are made to look exactly like the ones you would get from a pharmacy but contain lethal amounts of fentanyl- a drug fifty times stronger than heroin and one hundred times stronger than morphine. Once inhaled or ingested the overdose can occur within seconds to minutes.
The signs of overdose include: lips turning blue, gurgling sounds with breathing, stiffening of the body of seizure-like activity, foaming of the mouth and confusion or strange behavior before the individual loses consciousness.
If you are with someone who exhibits these symptoms, call 911 immediately.
These pills could have ended up in your neighborhood. Report any suspected drug activity to the narcotics hotline 913-573-6287.
