DOUGLAS COUNTY— Law enforcement authorities investigating vandalism at Lawrence High School football field, 1901 Louisiana in Lawrence, have identified a suspect, according to police spokesperson Laurie McCabe.
"The joint investigation, between police and the Lawrence Douglas County Fire Department, has led to the ID of a suspect."
The Lawrence High School Resource Officer who helped in the investigation submitted an affidavit to the district attorney. Police have now issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
The suspect is alleged to have set a fire that caused thousands of dollars in damage to a section of turf and the school’s mascot painted on the field, according to USD 497. Police have not released the suspect's name.
