JOHNSON COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating an alleged road rage incident and have two suspects in custody.
Just before at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to what was believed to be an attempted armed carjacking in the 1900 block of W 75th Street in Prairie Village, according to a media release.
A motorist was stopped at the red light when two suspects pulled next to them on a motorcycle. The suspect passenger opened the victim’s driver’s side door. The victim was able to pull the door shut and drove west on W 75th Street. One suspect pulled out a handgun and fired several shots at the victim as they drove away.
The suspects fled eastbound on W 75th Street into Missouri and were apprehended by Kansas City Missouri Police Officers after an accident.
Both suspects were taken to the hospital. Police determined the shooting was attributed to a road rage incident not an attempted carjacking. The suspects remain in custody. Police did not release their names or possible charges.
