FRANKLIN COUNTY—A strong thunderstorm that featured a lot of lightning is being blamed for a fire that destroyed a barn in rural Franklin.
Just before 10p.m. Friday, crews responded to a fire in the 1000 Block of Oregon Road, according to the Franklin County, Kansas, Sheriff’s Office.
Crews at the scene found flames coming from a large barn. Investigators determined lightning struck the barn during the severe weather and it was eventually engulfed in flames.
There were no injuries were reported. The barn was a complete loss. Investigators have not released a damage estimate.
