Kan. registered offender jailed for shooting that left victim with critical injuries

SEDGWICK COUNTY— Wichita Police arrested a suspect early Monday morning in connection with a shooting that left another man seriously injured in south Wichita.

At approximately 3:30 a.m.,  police responded to a shooting in the 2100 block of South Broadway, according to a media release. When officers arrived, they located a 33-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported by EMS to a local hospital in serious condition.

As the investigation continued into the morning, officers later located the suspect identified in county booking records as 39-year-old Larry D. Jordan in the 4500 block of South Broadway. Jordan attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. He was found to be in possession of a firearm and was transported to the Investigations for questioning.

Officers booked Jordan into the Sedgwick County Jail on requested charges of aggravated battery, felon in possession of a firearm, and felony obstruction. Jordan has been listed as a violent Kansas Offender since 2016, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections. He has previous felony convictions that include aggravated assault, felon in possession of a weapon and violation of the offender registration act. He has been out of prison since January.

The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for formal charging.
