$100,000 damage after rural Kansas fire

SALINE COUNTY —Authorities are working to determine the cause of a rural Saline County fire.

Just after 10:30p.m. Sunday, a homeowners reported of their detached shed was on fire on 2529 N. Kipp Road, according to Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan.

Deputies and Saline County Rural District 5 arrived to the scene and extinguished the fire. The shed was totally consumed along with various items valuing at a loss of around $100,000 - $120,000, according to Soldan. The items lost in the fire included a tractor, chicken coup, several power tools, grills and fans.

There were no reports of injuries or death of any chickens from the chicken coup. An 'electrical issue' may have caused the fire.
