SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in the 7700 block of South Broadway near Haysville, according to Sheriff's Department spokesman Branden Stitt.
At 2:58 a.m., Sedgwick County Emergency Communications received an automated crash detection alert from a mobile device in the area. Haysville police officers, along with Sedgwick County EMS and Fire District 1, responded and found an SUV that had crashed into a tree.
When first responders entered the vehicle, they found a 43-year-old Haysville man with gunshot wounds. Sedgwick County EMS took him to a local hospital in critical condition, where he later died. A female passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash.
