SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect after an alleged violent domestic incident in a dispute over laundry.

Just after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a report of a physical altercation between two men who lived in the same house on the south side of Salina, according to Salina Police Captain James Feldman.

Officers spoke with a 38-year-old man at the residence who said he had been arguing with his roommate, Jeffrey Majors, 53, about moving piles of laundry.

The disagreement escalated when Majors allegedly pushed the victim and placed him in a chokehold, applying pressure to the victim’s neck, Feldman said.

Another individual living in the residence intervened, and Majors eventually released the victim. The victim then contacted police.

Majors was taken into custody without incident on requested charges of aggravated domestic battery for applying the chokehold and criminal damage to property. During the altercation, the victim's glasses, valued at $185, were damaged, according to Feldman.
