SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas teen accused in a fatal shooting  that occurred last week in the basement of a home in Wichita faced a judge on Monday.

Elijah Cynova, 18, was charged with unintentional but reckless second-degree murder in the death of 18-year-old Blaze Arrington, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Just after 10p.m. December 23, police responded to a report of a shooting in the 3600 block of South Eisenhower Court in Wichita and found  Arrington suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Investigators determined Arrington was in the basement with a friend, later identified as Cynova, showing him two firearms. During the interaction, Cynova reportedly pointed one of the firearms at Arrington and fired, striking him.

Arrington was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.  He died four days later.  Click here to view the online fundraiser to assist Arrington's family.
