SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a murder and have made an arrest.
Just after 1p.m. February 10, deputies were sent to check the welfare of a man in the 200 block of east 86th Street South in Haysville after a property owner noticed him lying next to their home, according to Sedgwick County Sheriff's Lt. Benjamin Blick.
When deputies arrived to check on the man later identified as Vennie Kongvongsay, 23 of Wichita, they discovered he was deceased and had suffered a gunshot wound.
On March 22, 2022, deputies arrested Jim Sanchez, 27 of Wichita and Justinlee Welch, 25 of Wichita of requested charges of First Degree Murder, Aggravated Robbery and Kidnapping in connection with the death of Kongvongsay.
