
SHAWNEE COUNTY —One person was injured in a house fire Thursday in Topeka.
Just before 6:00 p.m., firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 1835 SW Lincoln in Topeka, according to a media release. Upon arrival, crews found a two-story house with smoke and flames on both floors. Two people were in the residence when the fire started and self-evacuated. One person was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Crews extinguished the fire.
Investigators determined the cause of the fire was accidental, associated with a space heater. There were no working smoke detectors in the home, according to the fire department. Authorities did not release a damage estimate.
