KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating a double homicide in Kansas City and have identified the victms as 24-year-old Rickey L. Cal and the second victim identified as 18-year-old Jeron Jackson, according to Officer Alanyna Gonzalez.
Just before 11:30 Saturday, police were dispatched on a reported shooting in the 1200 block of Westport Road, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
First responders entered a convenience store business where they located two male shooting victims who were unresponsive and suffering from gunshot trauma. Officers immediately began to render medical aid until EMS responded to the scene. Jeron Jackson was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries, and Cal was declared deceased on scene by medical personnel.
It is not currently known what led up to the shooting and no one is in police custody at this time.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the scene to begin gathering evidence and collect witness statements. This incident is being investigated as a homicide, according to Gonzalez.
