One dead, another wounded in KC restaurant shooting

KANSAS CITY —One person died in shooting at a restaurant in Kansas City.

Just after 8p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to a shooting call at a restaurant at 31st and Prospect in Kansas City, Missouri, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.

First responders located two shooting victims inside the restaurant, one of the victims was alert and responsive, the second victim was unresponsive.

Officers rendered aid and called for EMS to the scene. EMS transported one vicim to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, he was last listed in stable condition, according to Becchina.

EMS took over treatment of the second, unresponsive victim and ultimately declared him deceased at the scene. Homicide detectives were at the scene and took over the investigation. 

Preliminary information indicates that one or more people were inside the restaurant when an interaction between multiple people escalated to gunfire. That gunfire struck both victims. The suspect or suspects then left the restaurant in an unknown direction.
