Kan. sheriff's K9 assists in another drug arrest

BARTON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a woman on drug charges after a traffic stop in Great Bend.

Just after 3:30p.m. Thursday, a sheriff's deputy stopped a 1999 Chevrolet suburban for a traffic infraction in the 1600 block of Patton Road in Great Bend, according to Sheriff Brian Bellendir.

During the course of the stop, Sheriff’s Office K9 Maxx was deployed to conduct a sniff around the vehicle. Maxx indicated the presence of the odor of illegal substances in the vehicle and further investigation was conducted.

Upon searching the vehicle, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located inside.

Deputies arrested the driver Brandy Zuege, age 26 Larned, on requsted charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transported to the Barton County Jail without incident. She is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
