Police track down, arrest Kansas armed robbery suspect

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating an armed robbery have made an arrest.

Just before 4 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to the Kwik Shop at 1700 SW Topeka Blvd. on a report of an armed robbery, according to police spokesperson Gretchen Koenen.

The suspect reportedly entered the store, brandished a firearm and left with an undisclosed item.

Based on descriptions from witnesses and the assistance of security camera footage, officers were able to develop a description of the suspect. He was identified as 34-year-old Richard D. Youngberg. Police located Youngberg and arrested him on charges of aggravated robbery, theft and Topeka bench warrants, according to Koenen.
