Consuelo L. Marez

Consuelo Lopez Marez was called to Paradise May 18, 2020 in Denver, CO she was surrounded by family.

Consuelo was the only child of Teresa Hernandez Lopez and Jose Lopez and was born September 22, 1933 in Nieves, Zacatecas, Mexico. 

She married the love of her life Cesareo Marez Soto in Nieves, Zacatecas, Mexico on April 1, 1949. She later moved to the United States in 1964 to follow her husband, bringing their 4 children with her. They farmed and lived in Texas and Oklahoma before settling down in Kansas. Throughout their time in the United States she had 7 more children. She lost her husband in 1975 and continued raising their 11 children in Goodland, KS where she spent several years until moving to Denver, CO in 1992. One of her largest achievements was becoming a United States Citizen in 1998.

Consuelo had a love of growing flowers and was exceptionally good at gardening. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always remember her beautiful flowers, trees and vegetable gardens that filled her yard with color and beauty. She was known to be a woman of everything glamor, she loved discussing and doing her hair, makeup and nails, as well as admiring and discussing beautiful jewelry with her daughters and granddaughters.

Consuelo was a dedicated and loved member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Aurora, CO. She was a practicing and loyal Jehovah’s Witness; she was very strong in her faith and held it above all else, she would share the word of Jehovah with anyone she came across. She never missed a Memorial, even while battling physical ailments.  Her family is at peace knowing she is now in Paradise.

Consuelo is preceded in death by her parents Theressa Hernandez Lopez and Jose Lopez, her twin baby girls, her husband and love of her life Cesareo Marez Soto, her eldest son Adolfo “Adolf” Marez, her daughter Ninfa “Nancy” Marez and her son Antonio “Tony” Marez. She is survived by her children Marcelina “Marcy” Marez, Alonzo Marez (wife Karen) Cesareo Mares, Theressa Hoots (husband Dale, Maricela Haugland (husband Robert, Angelica Barton (husband Vincent, Fernando Marez, and Sandra Lang (husband Paul). She is also survived by her 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
