SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a burglary and have a suspect in custody.
Just after 2:30a.m. April 16, police responded to the Topeka Lutheran School located at 701 SW Roosevelt St. on a report of an alarm, according to police spokesperson Gretchen Koenen.
Officers and a Topeka Police K-9 began to search the school and the surrounding area. During the search, officers located a suspect fleeing from the school building. After a brief foot pursuit, officers arrested the suspect later identified as 26-year-old Dylan R. Area and booked him into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Burglary, Theft, Interference with Law Enforcement and Topeka Bench Warrants.
