4 in custody after shots fired at police during Kansas City chase

KANAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating four suspects after a high-speed chase on a Kansas City-area interstate.

Just after 10:30a.m. Wednesday, police attempted to stop a vehicle at Truman and Menown they believed may have been involved in an armed disturbance earlier in the day, according to a media release from police.

The vehicle fled from officers after they initiated the stop west bound on Truman Road.

Occupants of the vehicle fired multiple rounds at officers as the pursuit went from Truman Road onto South Interstate 435.

Eventually, the pursuit ended at 31st and Donnelly in Kansas City, where the occupants of the vehicle fled on foot.

Police took four people into custody near the scene. At this time it is unknown if there were any other occupants. No officers or citizens were reported to be injured during the incident. There have been no reports of property damage as a result of the shots being fired.
