USD 432

We have spent the past few weeks monitoring the rapidly changing COVID-19 coronavirus health issue in our region.

Every step we’ve taken over the past couple of weeks has been taken only after thoughtful consideration and deep discussions with many who are invested in both the education and well-being of our children. I have also been working closely with the KASB and KSDE leadership and following suggested guidance that has been a change from our daily routines.

The Commissioner of Education with support from KDHE, Department of Homeland Security, KNEA, USA, KSSA, and Governor’s office strongly recommended that Kansas schools close for the week of March 16 – March 20.

We would have spring break as scheduled March 23 - March 27.

Now, I believe that we should follow the recommendations of the state leadership.

Victoria School District will be closed March 16 – March 27, while we continue to monitor the situation and Kansas Leadership recommendations.

This decision was made thoughtfully and with the student safety at the center of the decision.

Thank you,

Kent Michel

Superintendent of Schools
