Friday afternoon, Colby Community College extended spring break by one week through March 27 due to concerns over the coronavirus. During the additional week, faculty will transition most classes to online delivery until further notice.

Offices will be open the week of March 16 and staff will report as usual. The college released an official statement, noting the following actions to limit potential exposure to the virus:

  1. The college swimming pool, the Steve Lampe Athletic Center, the campus gym, and fitness lab will be closed until further notice.
  2. All non-campus activities using college facilities are also canceled until further notice.
  3. Instead of physically coming to campus, the public is encouraged to call or send an email if assistance is needed from college personnel, including external parties wanting to visit campus.
  4. All college-related travel is restricted among employees.

Athletics is following direction from the KJCCC and the NJCAA. A statement was released on March 12 canceling all regular-season Jayhawk Conference competition for all teams, effective March 13 through April 1. The college will monitor the direction of both entities and determine the best course of action if events resume during the semester.
