Body + Soul Day and Wellness Spa is moving to a new location in downtown Hays.
Kiley Rupp, owner, has purchased the former Goodwin Sporting Goods building at 109 E. 11th. The business will move to the new location from 107 W. 15th in early May.
"I really wanted to be closer to downtown, to the heart of downtown was one of my main reasons," Rupp said. "[It will be a] bigger space and more functional."
Rupp said the new space will accommodate her growing business. Rupp, a former manager of the spa, took ownership of the business a year ago in May.
She said the ability to build a space to suit her business's needs and own her own building was appealing.
The former sporting goods store has about 500 more usable square feet than the spa's current location and is allowing the business to add more treatment rooms.
The new space will have four treatment rooms, a couple's room, expanded mani/pedi room, built-in steam shower, multi-use room for groups and wedding parties as well as a separate wing for the med spa.
"I feel this space is better suited for our clients," she said. "The space is designed for more functionality for the clients and has a better use of space. ...
"It just seems more fresh and uplifting," Rupp added.
Stephen Brummer of SJB Designs of Hays designed the project.
The building also has a full basement that can be used for storage.
Rupp said she hopes to eventually add services; however, she did not disclose what those services will be.
Rupp said she is hoping for a grand opening in June.
As a result of the coronavirus outbreak, Body + Soul announced on its Facebook page Sunday that it would be closing the spa to in-person appointments until April 1.
The business is still selling products. Invoices will be sent via Square and orders must be placed via Facebook messenger, Rupp said via Facebook.
