Kansas woman dies, 2 hospitalized after crash

JEFFERSON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 1:30p.m. Thursday in Jefferson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2009 Lexus ES driven by  Mollie Sharon Williams, 78, Meriden, was traveling northeast on 46th street and attempted to turn north onto Kansas 4.

A southbound 2015 Kia Optima driven by  Kassidy Nichole Smith, 22, Grantville, t-boned the Lexus. 

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Frontier Forensics.

EMS transported Smith and a passenger in the KIA Smith, Chad Wayne Smith, 48, Meriden, to a hospital in Topeka. Smith was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
