Police: Woman reported attempted kidnapping in Salina

SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating an alleged attempted kidnapping in Salina.

On Tuesday afternoon,  a 22-year-old woman was at her mailbox along the street in the 600 block of South Front Street in Salina when an older light blue or turquoise pickup pulled up, according to Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus.

The woman told police the driver opened the passenger door, showed a small black handgun to her and told her to get in the pickup. The woman fled back to her residence, he said.

The driver was described as having a dark complexion and short brown or black hair, and was thought to be taller was in his late 40s, and a wearing a black t-shirt and a blue bandana across his face, according to Hanus.

There are no suspects at this time and police are actively looking for surveillance video from the area.
