SUV slides on icy Kansas road, strikes and kills man

BOURBON COUNTY — One person died in an accident just before 5a.m. Wednesday in Bourbon County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Dodge Durango driven by  Stephanie L. Klepac, 26, Gerard, was northbound on U.S. 69 at Arrowhead Road.

Due to icy conditions, the SUV slid into the grassy median, went airborne and struck a pedestrian identified as  John R. Morris, 48, Liberal, Missouri, who was outside of his vehicle.

Morris was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Frontier Forensics. Klepac was not injured and properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
