First Call for Help of Ellis County is excited and grateful to receive this check from New York Life.

New York Life has awarded a Community Impact Grant of $5,000 in support of First Call for Help and its goal of providing transitional housing for low-income households.

Linda Mills, executive director of First Call for Help, said without this support from New York Life the agency would not be able to provide its future participants with program materials and services to help them succeed.

This grant is a result of partnering with the local New York Life agent and board member, Sandy McAlonan who said, "I'm proud to work for a company that encourages its agents and employees to devote their time, energy and talents to support the needs of the local community, and I thank the clients we serve that make it all possible."

Austin McAlonan, a New York Life agent and Jim Pfanenstiel, New York Life agent, retired, said supporting these needs and being involved makes an investment in the future of the community.

The Community Impact Grant program awards grants to local non-profit organizations, which are championed by New York Life agents and employees.

Since the program’s inception in 2008, more than 600 grants totaling almost $8 million have been awarded to non-profits across the country.
