Kan. man changing tire on interstate struck, killed by semi

FRANKLIN COUNTY — One person died in an accident just before 5:30a.m. Tuesday in Franklin County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2016 Kenworth semi driven by  Jerry W. Tiger, 61, Wichita, was northbound on Interstate 35  just south of Tennessee Road in the right lane of travel.

The driver failed to maintain lane, driving over the right white edge line and struck  Sidney Leroy Huff, 71, Wichita, who was attempting to change the flat left front tire of a 2003 Chevy Impala. 

The semi then continued NB until stopped by law enforcement near Gardner.

Huff was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Frontier Forensics.  Tiger was not injured. Authorities have released no additional details.
