Police: Alcohol a possible factor in fatal SW Kan. crash

FINNEY COUNTY — One person died in an accident Sunday in Garden City.

The Garden City Police Department reported a Ford LTD was eastbound in the 2600 Block of East Mary Street in Garden City. The driver allegedly ran a stop light.

A Ford F150 driven by Carlos Cano-Casillas, 20, Garden City,  was southbound from the exit ramp of the bypass, reportedly had a green light, continued through the intersection and struck the LTD, according to police.

First responders located four occupants in the LTD including Matthew Rome, 24, Garden City; Michael Barnes, 28,  Leoti; Cassey Dale, 31, and Alisha Dugan, 31, Garden City.

EMS transported Rome to St. Catherine's Hospital where he died.  EMS transported Barnes, Dale and Dugan to a hospital in Wichita. Cano-Casillas was treated at St. Catherine's Hospital and released.

Police are investigating whether alcohol was a possible factor in the accident.  Police did not release the time of the crash other additional information.
