
FINNEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man for an alleged assault.
Just after 10:00p.m. Sunday, Police were dispatched to the East side of Garden City, in reference to an aggravated assault in progress, according to Sergeant Lana Urteaga.
GCPD Communications told the officers, the woman who called, said the man was trying to kill her and had a shotgun pointed at her face.
Upon arrival, Officers quickly apprehended the man identified as 24-year-old Keith Hicks, Garden City, on the front steps of his residence.
Investigation revealed the man and woman were known to each other and in a dating relationship when an argument ensued over the Super Bowl. When the opposing team won, Hicks became angry and allegedly battered the woman and pointed a gun in her face stating he was going to kill her.
Hicks is being held in the Finney County Jail, and an affidavit was filed with the Finney County Attorney’s office requesting charges of Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, Criminal Threat, and Endangering a Child.
