Police: Kan. teen threw marijuana from car during chase

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on numerous charges after a chase and crash.

Just after 1a.m. Wednesday, police attempted to initiate a traffic stop Pontiac Grand Am for speeding on West Kellogg in Wichita, according to officer Paul Cruz.

The driver later identified as Tykwon Branch, 19, Wichita, refused to stop and a police chased. Branch exited onto West Street and threw an object from the vehicle that was later determined to be marijuana, according to  Cruz.  

Branch lost control of the vehicle and struck a curb and a street sign pole. He exited the car, ran from officers but was quickly taken into custody without further incident.

Branch is being held on requested charges of felony evade and elude, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous traffic violations.
