Police investigate burglary at Kan. car dealer, gas service office

COWLEY COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating  two incidents of theft last week at local businesses, resulting in losses estimated at more than $7,000, according to a media release from Arkansas City Police.

On January 13, officers were dispatched for a theft report at Zeller Motor Company, 3021 N.Summit St. Suspects had entered the property and removed several automobile parts valued at $6,000.

Police then were dispatched to the Evergy and Kansas Gas Service office, located just to the north of Zeller Motors at 3113 N. Summit St., for a similar theft report.

Investigators learned suspects forced entry into a fenced lot and removed property valued at $1,194. The thefts are thought to have taken place sometime after 10 p.m. Jan. 12.
