Police investigate report of dating app scam in Kansas

The Wichita Police Department has received recent reports of a scam where suspects are impersonating police officers. In these cases, the victims correspond with whom they believe to be a female on a dating app, according to a social media report from police.

Male suspects pretending to be police officers and the female’s father will then call the victim telling them the woman is underage and that they need to send them money.

Please know that the Wichita Police department members will never call anyone requesting money, and these types of calls are scams.If you have any questions about the legitimacy of a call from the WPD, then you can call City Hall at (316) 268-4111, which is answered at all times.
